Sitting Golden Goose is a story combat mission in Chapter 5.

Briefing[]

At Novo-Nikolaevsk, the train transporting the gold reserves for the Reds is said to be wrecked and broken down. This creates an opportunity for the Legion to conduct a stealth mission and take control over the cargo, before the Reds have a way to ferry it away.

Walkthrough[]

Golden goose (4,500 XP)[]

Your soldiers arrive at a swamp, just south to a freight station. Move up along the main railway track and approach the station, eliminating the two riflemen patrolling it.

The station has lots of Red soldiers patrolling the tracks and the depot behind it, however they are relatively light. It is best to approach the rear area with the alarm bell, where the sentries are sparsely placed, mostly looking away from you. Disassemble it and clear the surrounding soldiers, then move up in cover of the large factory building. Don't move along the tracks, as a Sniper is overlooking the vicinity and another Alarm bell waits for the soldiers to call in reinforcements.

When you have cleared the furthest gate at the depot, sneak up on the Sniper and destroy the alarm bell, then him. Eliminate the remaining guards.

Better safe than sorry (4,750 XP)[]

There are three scattered trucks that could be used to ferry the gold by the Reds in case of emergency: destroy them.

Off with his head (4,750 XP)[]

To the left further up the river bank, a small dock hut can be found where a small group of Reds reside. It will be brought to your attention that a Red officer must coordinate the soldiers and therefore should be killed. Try not to alert his subordinates, or he will move closer to the main objective. You can also find a Key near the campfire at the very edge of the map.

---

Right up comes a village area and the train station. Along the tracks, an enemy sentry from a watchtower surveys the entrance: kill him for some metal. From the village area, you can easily clear the surroundings before infiltrating the station.

The station is heavily garrisoned with a Heavy Machine Gun overlooking the entryway coming from the track, while the side near the gardens is less guarded. There you can take out the lone patrol and dismantle the nearby Alarm bell. In the meantime, approach the MG nest from the gardens and lure the two sentries off to leave the MG unguarded, then destroy it.

From this point on, you should be able to circumvent around the tracks and methodically sweep the area. The three Militia Officers sitting near a silo can easily be killed with a grenade or superior firepower. Take the Armored Car just near them and camp it around the capture point in front of the station.

Clean sweep (7,500 XP)[]

When you have captured the station, two squads of Reds will arrive to contest. Setting up two machine guns on either side of the station, as well as the Armored Car's firepower should be enough to repel them. You can exit the mission afterwards near the Golden Train.

Aftermath[]

The Legionnaires seize the train and its cargo. Soon, a White Army contingent arrives and Marshal Belov relays a message that they are to assist the Czechoslovaks with provisions, in return for their total control over the gold reserves.
