Major Otakar Gazdík is a major character in Last Train Home. He is a Slovak officer of the Czechoslovak Legion.
Story[]
Gazdík is a Slovak officer, leading a group of Czechoslovak legionaries on a way to Vladivostok on an armoured train. He supervises a subordinate Captain (soon-to-be-appointed Major) during the voyage.
Farms and Windmills[]
Gazdík entrusts his Captain with a mission to get supplies from a nearby mill, mainly to test him as he bragged about his capabilities. As the Captain finds out that the mill was burned by Reds and the local Miller was killed along with his children, Gazdík reminds the Captain that mission outcomes are prone to be different than expected. Then, the Major decides to avoid confrontation with the Reds and instead sets out to Moscow to meet Captain Langer, who negotiates a passage to Vladivostok with bolsheviks, so that the Legionaries could get home.
A Fateful Encounter[]
On their way the Legionaries meet Red Army general Morozov and his units. It initially seems that a battle will occur, as Morozov asks Legionaries to hand their weapons over which Gazdík refuses. Morozov eventually lets Legionaries go. Legionaries then arrive to Sukhinichi where a fight with Reds occurs, but Captain and his soldiers fight them off. Legionaries can continue to Moscow.

Legionaries arrive to Moscow, but their train is destroyed when Reds hit it with their train. Gazdík then meets Morozov who is commander of local Red Army. Morozov demands Legionaries to give up their weapons which Gazdík refuses once again. Morozov then shoots Gazdík and shootout ensues. Dying Gazdík commands Captain to lead remaining legionaries and find Captain Langer.
