Emplacements are stationary objects that can be mounted by units in combat missions.
Overview[]
Much like vehicles, heavy weapon emplacements are a feature of combat missions. These stationary guns can be operated by soldiers to provide a hefty boost in firepower.
While you can't bring these with you for missions, they can be found around Red Army fortifications and trenches, some unmanned. Red soldiers may also occupy unmanned guns, if alerted to enemy presence, or very rarely leave it, if pursuing your soldiers.
Mechanics[]
Emplacements resemble vehicles in that they need to be operated by one or two personnel. They usually have a limited field of view over a large distance, but they can be slowly rotated in place to face any target.
Guns have unlimited ammunition, which they can fire at will in their field of view. Usually guns need manual orders to fire, since they do not immediately trigger upon targets arriving in their sight.
Soldiers in an emplacement are usually well-protected against foot soldiers, as they have reduced chance to get hit from enemy projectiles and take reduced damage. Their lack of view may prove to be a great weakness however, as well as the inability to track fast-moving targets up close.
Enemies using an emplacement have less sophisticated behaviour, as they immediately turn towards any source of noise, and possess lower alert duration span. They also conveniently remain at their position, making themselves open to backstab attacks.
A gun emplacement has limited health despite its protection against explosions and projectiles. If operated by an enemy, the gun is rendered unusable when it is destroyed by gunfire or a backstab attack. Should the same happen to your own, your soldiers are automatically ejected and don't die.
